James Kelly - BioJames is an All American triathlete and accomplished
regional runner. He has been competing
in triathlon since 1989 and has covered all race distances including the Lake
Placid Ironman. As a member of Team USA he competed in the Duathlon World
Championship in 2003. Starting his running career in high school he went on to
compete at Fordham University and recently enjoyed the cheering crowds, if not
the last 6 miles, running his first Boston Marathon.
Though an endurance athlete he strongly emphasizes the
importance of strength and core training to those he trains and coaches. “A
strong core and overall fitness increase endurance because it reduces the
energy cost of running, biking and swimming. You will have more energy to move
forward because less will be spent maintaining good form and balance.”
James is an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer since 1992 and
has instructed Cycle Spin classes since 1997. Always looking for exciting and
challenging ways to stay fit he has recently been instructing Boot Camp and TRX
suspension training classes. He also coaches the Pawling Middle School
Cross Country and Track Teams and assists with the high
school team. “I really enjoy passing on my passion for running and fitness to
the younger generation.”
Fitness Philosophy - Physical activity should be a priority
if we truly want the best for ourselves. By paying attention to our physical
well being our mind and spirit follow - it is a path to wellness and balance.
The key ingredients for life time fitness are commitment, knowledge,
consistency and focus. Enlisting a personal trainer or joining group workouts
can guide you to successfully applying these ingredients.
Erin Holohan - Intern / Student
Erin is currently an intern at Higher Choices. She is working toward completing a personal trainer certification in addition to a degree in exercise science and wellness. Erin is enthused about the vast opportunities in fitness and health careers. She is motivated to continue educating herself in many different areas of interest, in order to effectively work with clients holistically.
